AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

In its aim to influence behavior change and help launch and strengthen support groups and national networks of people living with HIV/AIDS, NAP+ initiated the Ambassador of Hope program. This program involves inter-country visits of role models of behavior change for the exchange and sharing of experiences and information. It’s an advocacy tool meant to lobby governments.

INFORMATION SHARING

NAP+ has dissemination and information exchange Program in Francophone and Anglophone Africa. Activities include sharing of personal experiences and printing and distribution of nutritional manual, Treatment literacy material and the NAP+ newsletter, Positive Voice.

SKILLS BUILDING AND STRENTHENING

NAP+ engages in skills development for its members through support groups and sub regional workshops. NAP+ is currently focusing on treatment literacy to ensure universal treatment access for PLHAs in Africa.

DOCUMENTATION OF INFORMATION

NAP+ attempts to reach as many people in Africa as possible with information on HIV/AIDS. Although most NAP+ documents are only available in French and English, attempts have been made to translate some publications in Swahili and other widely spoken languages in Africa. NAP+ has produced, in partnership with USAID, a regional directory of African Associations of people living with HIV/AIDS.

STRUCTURE OF NAP+

NAP+ is managed by a planning and management board comprising of regional representative from the six African sub-regions (North, East, West, Central, Southern and Indian Ocean Islands ).

 

The Network of African People living with HIV/AIDS (NAP+) is a Pan African network for and by people living with HIV. It was established in 1994 to work towards the improvement of the quality of lives of PLHIV in Africa and to encourage them to work together in national networks for better co-ordination and stronger representation of issues important in their lives.
